Brian Ganz Previews CHOPIN THE VIRTUOSO – Sold Out

Brian Ganz previews his upcoming Strathmore recital, which features what he calls Chopin’s most “joyously, gorgeously challenging” music: The 12 Etudes, Op. 25.

In the Strathmore program, there will also be the rarely heard Rondo, Op. 16, the fiery First Scherzo, the lilting Nocturne Op, 37, No. 2, and more.

At the Kosciuszko Foundation preview, Brian will play excerpts from the program, answer audience questions, and take requests for favorite works of Chopin.

The concert is dedicated to the 79th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

Brian Ganz is widely regarded as one of the leading pianists of his generation. A laureate of the Marguerite Long Jacques Thibaud and the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium International Piano Competitions, Mr. Ganz has appeared as soloist with such orchestras as the St. Louis Symphony, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Baltimore Symphony, the National Philharmonic (USA), the National Symphony (USA), the City of London Sinfonia, and the Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra, and has performed with such conductors as Leonard Slatkin, Marin Alsop, Mstislav Rostropovich, Piotr Gajewski and Yoel Levi.

The evening will also be the last opportunity to view the exhibition of the paintings by Helen Ciesla Covensky, a Polish-Jewish abstract expressionist and the mother of documentary filmmaker Aviva Kempner, who will be among the guests.
